Forklift Operator / Material Handler
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Full-Time Hours
We are seeking a dependable Forklift Operator / Material Handler to assist with material movement, customer loading and unloading, and production preparation in our sandblasting and powder coating operation.
This position plays an important role in keeping materials moving safely and efficiently through the shop. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating a forklift, working around large steel parts and fabricated components, and performing hands-on physical work in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts to move, load, unload, and stage customer materials and finished products.
- Load and unload customer trucks, trailers, and delivery vehicles.
- Inspect incoming materials for obvious damage and help ensure materials are properly identified and organized.
- Stage parts for sandblasting, powder coating, and other production processes.
- Prepare parts for coating, including:
- Hanging and racking parts.
- Masking or plugging areas as directed.
- Cleaning and wiping down parts.
- Removing labels, tape, debris, or other contaminants.
- Assisting with organizing parts before and after blasting or coating.
- Move material between receiving, sandblasting, coating, curing, and shipping areas.
- Help package, wrap, palletize, and secure finished customer products for pickup or shipment.
- Maintain an organized material staging and storage area.
- Assist production personnel with general material handling and shop duties as needed.
- Perform basic visual inspections of materials and finished parts.
- Follow company safety procedures when operating forklifts and handling heavy or oversized materials.
- Keep work areas clean and free of unnecessary hazards.
Qualifications
- Previous forklift experience preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, fabrication, powder coating, sandblasting, or a similar industrial environment is a plus.
- Ability to safely handle large, heavy, and sometimes awkward fabricated parts.
- Good attention to detail when identifying and organizing customer materials.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when necessary.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to perform both forklift operation and hands-on production work.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
Forklift certification is preferred but may not be required for an otherwise qualified candidate who can demonstrate safe equipment operation and complete any required company training.
Physical Requirements
This is an active industrial position. Employees should be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, reach, kneel, and work around large parts and equipment.
- Regularly lift and handle materials associated with production work.
- Work in a manufacturing environment that may include dust, heat, noise, and outdoor conditions at times.
- Safely work around forklifts, trucks, sandblasting equipment, powder coating equipment, and other industrial machinery.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, and willing to work. This is not a forklift-only position. The employee will operate material-handling equipment while also helping the production team prepare, organize, and move parts through the sandblasting and powder coating process.
This is a full-time position with consistent hours and an opportunity to become an important part of our day-to-day production operation.
