Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. In this role, you will craft authentic and visually stunning sushi dishes, ensuring each plate meets high standards of quality, presentation, and freshness. Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and specialty items with meticulous attention to detail and presentation
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in all aspects of sushi preparation
- Select fresh ingredients and ensure proper storage to preserve quality and flavor
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new sushi recipes and innovative menu offerings
- Manage ingredient inventory, monitor stock levels, and place orders as needed to ensure seamless operations
- Educate junior staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, and presentation standards
- Ensure timely delivery of dishes while maintaining consistency in taste and appearance
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a reputable restaurant or culinary setting
- Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, knife skills, and ingredient handling
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent classroom management skills for training junior staff or apprentices
- Creative arts background or experience in choreography or visual arts is a plus for presentation skills
- Experience working with children or youth programs is advantageous for team collaboration and mentorship
- Culinary certification or relevant training in Japanese cuisine preferred
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans for culinary workshops or demonstrations
- Passion for continuous learning about culinary arts, including photography of food presentation and creative arts instruction
