Overview
Join our dynamic manufacturing team as an Extruder Operator working a 12-hour shift schedule! In this vital role, you will operate and monitor plastics extrusion machinery to produce high-quality plastic products efficiently and safely. Your expertise will help ensure smooth production flow, maintain product standards, and uphold safety protocols. This position offers an energetic environment where your mechanical skills and attention to detail will directly contribute to our manufacturing success.
Duties
- Set up, operate, and monitor plastics extrusion machinery, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to verify product dimensions and consistency.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on extrusion equipment, press brake machines, CNC lathes, CNC machines, and other fabrication tools.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts and materials handling equipment to load raw materials and move finished products within the warehouse.
- Utilize hand tools and fabrication techniques for minor repairs or adjustments to machinery or product components.
- Conduct visual inspections of finished products for defects, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience in plastics extrusion or plastics blow molding manufacturing environments.
- Mechanical knowledge with familiarity in operating CNC lathes, CNC machines, press brake machines, and other fabrication tools.
- Ability to use programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for machine operation and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of quality inspection techniques using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Valid forklift certification and experience operating forklifts safely within a warehouse setting.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations, and process adjustments.
- Knowledge of materials handling procedures and safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with plastics injection molding or related manufacturing processes is a plus.
