Axios Professional Recruitment is partnering with a growing West Michigan manufacturer to hire a Purchasing Coordinator. This position is responsible for purchasing, inventory management, material planning, and supplier coordination to ensure production schedules are supported with the right materials at the right time. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage purchasing activities, inventory control, and material planning to support production.
- Create, review, and process purchase orders while coordinating with internal departments and suppliers.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish materials to maintain production requirements.
- Review open purchase orders, backorders, and delivery schedules, following up with suppliers as needed.
- Resolve supplier issues related to quality, quantity, pricing, and delivery.
- Evaluate supplier performance and assist with sourcing and cost-saving initiatives.
- Coordinate material and engineering changes with internal teams and vendors.
- Analyze purchasing and inventory data to improve inventory accuracy and material availability.
- Support production planning by reviewing sales orders and forecasting material requirements.
- Participate in cycle counts, inventory audits, and annual physical inventory.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and inventory transactions within the ERP system.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, warehouse, sales, accounting, and engineering teams to ensure efficient operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- Two or more years of purchasing, procurement, or materials planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with inventory management, production planning, and supplier coordination.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
