Maintenance Lead

About the Role
Saco River Family Camping is looking for an experienced Maintenance Lead to help oversee day-to-day facilities operations across our nearly 50-acre riverside property. This is a hands-on role: working under the direction of the Facilities Manager, you'll help lead a small maintenance team, take ownership of maintaining our equipment and infrastructure, and be someone our guests and staff count on when something needs to be fixed right the first time.
This role reports directly to, and takes day-to-day direction from, the Facilities Manager, and helps ensure the overall condition, safety, and reliability of our grounds, buildings, and mechanical systems.
What You'll Do
- Help the Facilities Manager plan, assign, and oversee the daily work of the team, including budgeting, materials procurement, scheduling and prioritizing repair and upkeep tasks.
- Personally handle advanced plumbing, mechanical, landscaping, electrical, and carpentry work that requires specialized skill and/or judgment
- Review completed work for quality, presentation and safety before it's considered finished
- Train and mentor maintenance staff, and serve as the go-to person when a team member needs guidance on a repair
- Manage a preventive maintenance schedule for buildings, equipment, and mechanical systems
- Order parts and supplies, and manage relationships with outside vendors and contractors for large, specialized work
- Maintain required property certifications, including propane dispensation and pool operation, and help the maintenance team meet applicable safety standards
- Be available to respond to facility emergencies as they arise, including outside of scheduled hours
- Be a visible, hands-on presence on the property, helping ensure guests have a safe, clean, well-maintained place to stay
- Perform maintenance work in and around food prep and food service areas from time to time
What You Bring
- At least 3 years of hands-on maintenance or trades experience, with demonstrated skills in plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry work with advanced skills in one or more of these areas.
- 3+ years of documented experience leading or supervising a team (preferred)
- Demonstrated dependability, including consistent, reliable attendance and availability for scheduled and emergency on-call needs
- Because this role includes emergency response, you'll need to live within a 30-minute drive of the property, or be willing to relocate within 30 days of starting
- Required at hire: valid driver's license
- Required within 90 days of hire if not already held: DOT medical card, ServSafe certification, CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification, propane dispensation certification, and OSHA 10-Hour certification
- OSHA 30-Hour certification (preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and prioritize work across multiple projects at once
- Comfort working outdoors in all seasons and conditions
- Comfortable working at heights and in small or confined spaces
- Good hearing and vision (with or without corrective devices), ability to see and distinguish colors and the ability to speak and write clearly
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 85 pounds independently
- Ability to safely move heavier items, such as concrete bags or certain tools and equipment, using a hand truck, dolly, or a second team member
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable with computer usage and mobile communication platforms.
- Remains calm and personable with both guests and coworkers under pressure.
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $26-$34/hour, based on experience
- Full-time (seasonal), with potential for year-round employment
- Schedule flexibility required, including regular evening shifts and weekends and holidays, with advance notice for regular scheduling
