The Plant Guy creates custom botanical installations and statement pieces for homes and commercial spaces across the country. We're growing and looking for a Sales & Design Consultant who can do two things really well: connect with clients and close beautiful projects.
This isn't a cold-call-all-day sales job. It's a consultative, creative role where you'll guide clients from their first "I love that" moment to a signed project. You'll have real design input, real earning potential, and a product that sells itself once people see it.
One thing worth knowing: you won't be hunting for business. We have a steady stream of inbound leads through the website, social, phone, referrals, and past clients, all routed through our CRM. The leads are there, but the best closers never stop at inbound.
What You'll Do
Sales:
- Respond to inbound inquiries from web, social, and phone
- Guide clients through discovery → design concept → estimate → close
- Do outbound follow-up and light prospecting on your working days
- Negotiate pricing once scope is confirmed, and confidently ask for the business
- Actually pick up the phone and talk to people, this isn't a CRM-only role
Design:
- Listen to what clients want, then help them get there
- Make confident aesthetic recommendations on style, product, and feasibility
- Support or create visual renderings and proposals
- Work within our existing design direction and price point, not reinvent it
Admin:
- Keep the CRM clean (leads entered, stages updated, notes logged)
- Prepare accurate estimates and material order sheets for sold jobs
- Submit invoices and project documentation after close
- Hand off completed deals to production with everything they need
You're a Great Fit If You:
- Have experience in consultative, custom, or design-oriented sales
- Genuinely believe in a premium product and are comfortable selling at a high price point
- Have a strong design eye and can make aesthetic calls with confidence
- Are personable and comfortable talking to clients on the phone, not just working off a CRM
- Are highly organized and don't let details fall through the cracks
- Are local or able to regularly meet at our design center
- Can work independently without close management
What Success Looks Like
- 30 Days: Hit daily activity targets; help move $50K in existing pipeline toward close
- 60 Days: Close $100K in new project revenue (with the owner's support)
- 90 Days: Independently manage your pipeline; close $150K/mo
- Ongoing: 80+ outbound calls/week, 10–12 client touchpoints daily, weekly sales sync with the team
The Pay
- $1,500/month draw against commission
- 8.5% of Gross Profit on every project you close
Strong performers earn well here. The projects are high-ticket, the pipeline is active, and leads are provided. You're not cold prospecting. You're closing.
A Note on Location
Local candidates are strongly preferred. We have a design center where you'll collaborate with the team, review product, and occasionally meet clients in person. If you're not local but can be present regularly, let us know.
Pay: $1,500.00 - $10,000.00 per month
