We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Surgical Medical Assistant to oversee surgical preparation, sterilization protocols, and team scheduling. This role requires 10–20 hours per week maintaining operating room (OR) readiness, strict sterile technique, supply inventory, and multidisciplinary staff coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Sterilization & Instrument Prep: Prepare and stage surgical instrument trays the day prior to procedures. Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize instruments between cases following strict infection control standards.
- Operating Room Assistance: Assist surgeons and the surgical team intraoperatively, maintaining sterile fields, proper scrub technique, and instrument handling.
- Supply & Inventory Management: Track, order, and stock surgical inventory, monitor expiration dates, and handle vendor relations.
- Surgical Scheduling: Coordinate surgical timelines and coverage among surgeon, anesthesiologist, and PACU nurse.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) or certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- 1–2 years of experience in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC), outpatient surgical clinic, or OR environment.
- Proven proficiency in sterile processing, autoclave operations, and clinical scheduling software.
- Active BLS/CPR certification.

- Type: Part-Time (approx. 10–20 hours/week)
- Schedule: Weekdays (pre-op preparation and surgery days)
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
