Dreumex - a global manufacturer of industrial hand cleaners and disinfecting wipes - has available a position for a Machine Operator to operate our Elsner ENR-1000 Towel Re-winder Machine.
The candidate will work from our US manufacturing facility located in York, PA. The primary purpose of this position is to successfully operate the ENR-1000 Nonwovens Rewinder machine by making various setting and control adjustments to the mechanical and digital controls of the machine in order to convert large rolls of raw material into smaller rolls of material for supply to our manufacturing department.
This work requires very strict attention to the machine details, including the settings of various controls related to the operation of the machine. Other duties include occasional blade changes, preventative maintenance, occasional repair maintenance, housekeeping, proper material handling and production within the allotted time and of the expected quality.
May provide training on-site by the rewinder manufacturer when able.
Responsibilities / Duties / Expectations
- Machine Operation – Successfully operate the ENR-1000 Nonwovens Rewinder machine by making various setting and control adjustments to the mechanical and digital controls of the machine in order to convert large rolls of raw material into smaller rolls of material for supply to our manufacturing department.
- Raw Material - Maintain designated raw material storage and organization in accordance with internal procedures and external policies, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), customer Specific Policies, vendor specific policies and internal policies
- Staging – draw raw materials from storage in preparation of machine output, by using various tools necessary to draw quantities of raw materials per bill of material requirements
- Preparation – Load staged master rolls of material into machine for conversion
- Maintenance & Housekeeping – Engage in regular preventative maintenance and housekeeping to clean and maintain equipment as necessary to meet quality standards, including regular cleaning of all equipment and the surrounding area.
- Quality – Carry out all duties with a focus on meeting quality expectations for all of our converted products, including specific following of all bills-of-material to create quality finished product within the time allotted to each process. Maintain all necessary batch paperwork, logs, etc, to assure proper record keeping in accordance with Dreumex policies with a focus on quality.
- Performs any other duties as assigned, including assistance in other departments as necessary and requested by management.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude necessary to independently operate ENR-1000 machine
- Able to meet all quality expectations
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision from manager, as well as the ability to make quality decisions independently as appropriate.
- Must have the ability to follow specific direction and recipes with a very high degree of accuracy and precision.
- Flexibility - may be asked to participate on production lines when machine operation is not scheduled
- Ability to work in environment without climate control - warm, humid summers and cold winters
- Excellent verbal communication skills with floor and office teams, along with temporary employees.
- Excellent teamwork skills and ability to be comfortable in a production environment.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent; or previous work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relevant work experience: 2 to 4 years
- Knowledge of machine operation
- Knowledge of warehousing operations, including the use of various warehouse equipment
- Ability to read instructions written in English and complete handwritten paperwork in English; legible handwriting required.
- Ability to make precise adjustments and follow written policies & procedures necessary for the operation of the machine
- Ability to use a forklift; experience with clamp attachments a plus.
- Experience with re-winder machines or similar preferred.
