Private veterinary clinic in Carlton, Oregon seeking a professional, dedicated and compassionate Certified Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant to join our hard working team. Our small practice is focused on providing top tier veterinary care while ensuring our staff maintains a healthy work-life balance. As a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Veterinary Assistant at our clinic, you will be responsible for assisting Veterinarians, CVT's, and experienced Veterinary Assistants with various tasks related to surgery, exams, and patient care.
Duties
- Assist Veterinarians during examinations and procedures.
- Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both the animals and staff.
- Provide basic pet care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals.
- Maintain cleanliness in kennels and treatment areas to promote a hygienic environment.
- Handle animal catheterization and assist with dental procedures as needed.
- Utilize knowledge of veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with the veterinary team.
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the veterinarian.
- Help manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology is essential; familiarity with dental terminology is a plus.
- Skills in animal husbandry, dog training, and animal restraint are highly desirable.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately in various situations.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and pet owners.
- A passion for animal care and welfare is crucial for success in this role.
