Job Title: Level IV CNC Programmer / Machinist
Description
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist to join our team. This position is responsible for independently programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision components for a wide variety of customer applications. As a job shop, our work is characterized by low-volume, high-mix production, where no two days are the same. Success in this role requires the ability to efficiently transition from one project to the next, solve complex machining challenges, and confidently take a part from print to finished component. The ideal candidate is highly self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and thrives in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret technical drawings manufacture parts to specification
- Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes from start to finish
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using conversational programming and/or CAM software
- Select appropriate tooling, workholding, and machining strategies for a wide range of materials and part geometries
- Determine and apply proper speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary program or setup adjustments
- Operate various material handling equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, etc.
- Lift up to 40 lbs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Required Skills
- Many years of hands-on experience programming and setting up CNC mills and/or lathes
- Extensive experience with conversational programming and/or CAM software
- Proven ability to independently program, set up, and run CNC equipment with minimal assistance
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and workholding methods
- Experience machining larger parts (10” diameter and above)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with a variety of materials (steel, stainless, aluminum, alloys, etc.)
- Familiarity with tight tolerance, high-precision machining
- Experience with multi-axis machining
- Preferred experience with Mastercam
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/machine shop (job shop) environment
- Standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights required
Compensation
- Competitive pay based on experience ($35.00/hr and up)
