Meister Seelig & Schuster is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estate Planning Associate (3+ years) to join its Tax & Estates practice in our NYC office. This role is ideal for an attorney who is comfortable managing matters with appropriate supervision, communicating directly with clients, and producing high-quality work product in a collaborative, in-person environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and revise estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies, living wills, and related ancillary documents.
- Advise individuals and families on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) planning strategies and wealth transfer goals and working on estate and gift tax returns.
- Assist with estate and trust administration matters, including probate/administration filings, beneficiary communications, asset collection and distribution, and fiduciary support.
- Coordinate with clients’ professional advisors (accountants, financial advisors, and other counsel) to implement planning recommendations.
- Support matters involving closely held business interests and real estate as they relate to estate planning and administration, including funding trusts and transfer documents in connection therewith.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on trusts and estates issues, including New York law considerations.
- Participate in client meetings and help manage matters efficiently, including timelines, deliverables, and internal coordination.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice in New York and in good standing.
- Minimum of 3 years of dedicated experience in estate planning (trusts & estates).
- LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $160,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
