Job Title: Pharmacy Compliance Officer

The Pharmacy Compliance Officer (PCO) will examine, evaluate, and ensure that all long-term care pharmacy operations comply with federal and state pharmacy regulations, accreditation
standards, and internal policies.
The Pharmacy Compliance Officer (PCO) will also promote a culture of regulatory compliance and excellence, safe handling of medications, and continuous improvement across six
pharmacy sites in Washington state (Renton, Spokane Valley, Lacey, Everett, Mountlake Terrace, Vancouver), as well as mail-order and independent client services (RMC). The role will
work in close coordination with licensed pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and pharmacy technicians under the direction of a Pharmacist Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with documentation, reporting, and investigation of medication errors, safety incidents, and policy concerns, and support corrective action planning under pharmacist oversight. (20%)
- Conduct internal compliance audits of controlled substances and Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) reporting for accuracy and completeness to state agencies, and assess readiness of payer audit documentation to compile summary reports and support corrective actions. (15%)
- Maintain records and documentation for HIPAA, OSHA, DEA, and State Board compliance and inspections, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required. (15%)
- Provide compliance training and ongoing education to pharmacy and administrative staff. (15%)
- Monitor and verify compliance with safe handling procedures for storage and disposal of pharmaceutical drugs (including tablets, liquids, and vaccines) and associated biohazardous waste. (15%)
- Manage timely certification, license, and accreditation renewals for pharmacies and pharmacy staff. (10%)
- Participate in multi-site readiness audits and ensure consistency of compliance standards across all locations. (10%)
Limited domestic travel to company's office in Mountlake Terrace and Everett within commuting distance of the place of employment and also to office in Lacey, Vancouver, and Spokane Valley in WA state. 20-25 hours per month.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health, or related field or foreign degree equivalent and one year of experience working in a long-term care (LTC) pharmacy setting and one year of work experience in patient recordkeeping and insurance compliance.
Concurrent experience okay.
Ability to obtain a Washington State Pharmacy Assistant License upon hire.
Salary: $39.03/hr to $47.12/hr
