Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all necessary materials are ready for procedures.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and infection prevention management policies.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and medical imaging procedures to support comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and treatment plans while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Maintain infection control standards through proper dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques aligned with healthcare infection prevention guidelines.
- Assist with dental equipment maintenance, including operation of the dental x-ray machine to ensure optimal performance.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment with exposure to general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, or similar specialties.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft for efficient medical documentation and record keeping.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security within healthcare settings.
- Hands-on experience with dental X-ray procedures, sterilization protocols, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry procedures, and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Ability to perform medical imaging accurately while maintaining safety standards for both patients and staff.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient management and collaboration with the dental team.
