Job Overview Layo is hiring experienced Community Organizers to build and manage active, real-world communities at Georgia State University. This role starts fall semester, timed to move-in and the first weeks of the school year. It focuses on execution, not promotion. You will plan and host events, grow participation, and create environments people want to return to.
This role is ideal for candidates with prior experience in community organizing, campus leadership, or ambassador programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, host, and run consistent in-person events at or near the GSU campus
- Create and manage active small groups (we call them pods) using the Layo app
- Recruit, onboard, and retain community members
- Partner with student organizations, creators, or local groups
- Ensure events are welcoming, inclusive, and well run
- Collect community feedback and share insights with the Layo team
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience as a community organizer, campus ambassador, student leader, or event host
- Experience running events, meetups, clubs, or organizations
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Reliable, organized, and able to follow through independently
- Proficient in using social media to promote events, engage members, and grow community participation (Instagram, TikTok, GroupMe, or similar)
- Existing ties to the GSU campus community or student org network a plus
Schedule and Pay
- 5 to 10 hours per week
- Flexible schedule, including some evenings or weekends
- $30 per hour
- Starts fall semester
Incentives In addition to hourly pay, this role is eligible for performance-based incentives of $50 to $200 per month tied to:
- Successfully completed events
- Event attendance and repeat participation
- Consistent execution and reliability
Incentives are reviewed and paid monthly.
