KIDS Interactive Day School has a strong passion for enhancing the education and care of children in a way where learning and play can happen simultaneously. The ideal candidate would have prior working experience in a childcare setting and can contribute to the collaborative and nurturing working environment.
- Candidates must pass required state and company background checks and meet state and company minimum education and experience requirements
- At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year working with children in a childcare setting (babysitting, nanny, teacher) and ranging from infant to preschool
- Patience and ability to handle challenging behaviors with empathy and provide solution-based approaches
Toddler Teacher Responsibilities:
- Planning and delivering lessons designed to facilitate students' social, emotional, and cognitive development following the Creative Curriculum.
- Encouraging self-expression through understanding, flexibility, and behavioral reinforcement.
- Tending to students' basic needs by feeding and dressing them.
- Mediating conflict between students.
- Modelling appropriate behaviors, even when not on duty.
- Ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conducive to learning at all times.
- Liaising with families to gain insight into students' home lives.
- Tracking and informing parents of students' progress.
- Attending parent and staff meetings.
- A passion for early childhood development.
Toddler Teacher Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clear criminal record.
- Prior experience working with young children, preferably within a similar setting.
- CPR/First-Aid Certified (prefferrred)
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Warm, approachable disposition.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work during evenings, as needed.
- Acknowledges parent and child with a greeting at drop-off and pick-up.
- Communicates with parents daily, reports at least one positive event (accomplishment, amusing anecdote, etc.) about each child to the parent.
- Prepares memo daily for parent, indicating child’s functioning each day.
- Treats parents with dignity and respect, recognizing the cultural and socio-economic diversity of the population.
- Makes parents aware of classroom and center activities, and encourages family involvement
- Brings any parent feedback, concerns about children, etc. to the attention of the Center Director before discussing with the parent.
- Insures that items (papers, dirty clothes, etc.) are taken home and follows up with parents on items to be brought to the center.
- Respects the confidentiality of families, and takes care not to speak in front of the children about that child or other children.
- Participates in parent conferences as needed.
- Accommodates special requests from parents whenever possible.
