Milestones Childcare & Preschool is looking for an experienced, caring, and motivated Lead Teacher to join our Amesbury team!
We are looking for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and is ready to take ownership of their classroom while working collaboratively with a co-teacher and support staff.
Our ideal Lead Teacher is dependable, energetic, organized, and confident in the classroom. Most importantly, we want someone who genuinely loves working with children and wants to be part of a positive and supportive team.
What You'll Do
As a Lead Teacher, you will help create a safe, nurturing, engaging, and well-organized classroom while providing leadership to your classroom team.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the daily operations and routines of your classroom
- Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate curriculum
- Create weekly lesson plans and classroom activities
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for children
- Work collaboratively with co-teachers and classroom assistants
- Provide guidance and direction to classroom support staff
- Maintain strong classroom management and consistent routines
- Complete child observations, assessments, and progress reports
- Track developmental milestones and individual child progress
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children and families
- Maintain professional and consistent communication with parents
- Ensure classroom compliance with Massachusetts EEC regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development
- Communicate classroom needs or concerns with the Director
- Be flexible and willing to support the center and other classrooms when needed
What We're Looking For
- Massachusetts EEC Teacher Certification preferred
- Lead Teacher Certification is a plus
- Experience working in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
- Experience leading a classroom or mentoring other educators preferred
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and age-appropriate curriculum
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, organized, patient, positive, and flexible
- Ability to take initiative and confidently lead a classroom
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Most importantly — someone who loves children and early childhood education!
