JOB This is a specialized, part-time recreation work in conducting a variety of programming opportunities including: staffing a community center, the open-gym program, evening recreation program, and the summer enrichment program. Work involves responsibility for exercising leadership in the Park Department's recreational programs as well as in other seasonal special events. Work is performed in the area of specialization, under supervision, in accordance with standard recreational practices and procedures. Supervision may be exercised over other seasonal recreational personnel. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Plans and develops city-wide recreational programs in the observance of special events including operating a community center and summer, open gym, and evening recreation programs
- Organizes and coordinates special recreational events including summer and evening gym programs on a city-wide basis
- Organizes and instructs volunteer and neighborhood groups and individuals assisting in these programs
- Evaluates programs, makes recommendations, requisitions necessary equipment and supplies, schedules use of the community center, and makes periodic activity reports
- Performs related work as required
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- Experience in planning, organizing, and supervising special event and seasonal programs preferred
- Work experience in recreation or related field preferred
