TITLE: SR. BUYER

REPORTS TO: SR. MANAGER, PURCHASING
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Purchasing, the Sr. Buyer is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and processing approved purchase requisitions for goods or services, including entering and updating purchase order information in PeopleSoft or similar Enterprise Resource Program (ERP), requesting, reviewing, and processing quotes from approved vendors or suppliers, updating and maintaining the approved vendor database, and performing cost analysis (make- versus-buy) or researching alternate sourcing as needed. This position is located in Milpitas, California.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reviews, analyzes, and processes approved purchase requisitions for goods or services in Company ERP application such as PeopleSoft or SAP

Requests, reviews, and processes quotes from approved vendors or suppliers

Research new vendors or suppliers as needed to ensure standards for quality, performance, price, and on-time delivery are met consistently

Maintains and updates approved vendor/supplier list as needed

Monitors Purchase Price Variance (PPV) to ensure lowest cost/price; negotiates with vendors or suppliers over time to reduce cost; secures alternate sources as needed

Monitors and tracks overdue or delinquent orders; escalates issues as necessary in order to maintain delivery schedule

Responds to requests for information or reports from departments or employees

Adheres to all safety policies and procedures as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance and/or equivalent relevant experience
- Five years of experience working in supply chain, commodities, or procurement in a manufacturing environment
- Experience using an ERP system such as PeopleSoft or SAP

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the purchasing principles and practices, including reviewing and approving purchase requisitions, vendor/supplier management, and cost reduction initiatives

Knowledge and ability to use an ERP application such as PeopleSoft or SAP to enter, modify, and track approved purchase requisitions

Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications to create spreadsheets, Word documents, and presentations

Able to communicate effectively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management both verbally and in writing

The annual base salary for this full-time position is between $92,929.95-136,661.69+ bonus target + benefits. Within the range the individual pay may differ depending on additional factors including job responsibilities, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience. The annual base pay range shown is subject to change and may be modified periodically.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Sr. Buyer works primarily in an office environment from Monday to Friday. The schedule may be altered from time-to-time to meet business or operational needs; may travel from building-to-building as needed. Stands, sits, and walks; performs various fine grasping movements, bends, and twists; operates a computer and enters information using a keyboard, operates a telephone, and other office equipment. May occasionally push, pull, or lift up to 10 or more pounds.
