Job Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for delivering all requested materials between work centers (including the warehouse). This position is also responsible for receiving; correctly labeling and correctly organizing all laminated board material back into the Warehouse. In addition, the Material Handle may be asked to stage all material to be requested for the following day. In addition, the Material Handler will be responsible for cycle counts of the material in the Warehouse and will act as the backup to the Lead in his absence.
Responsible for delivering material to the plant as needed for production.
Responsible for staging all material requested for the following day.
Responsible for receiving material for vendors and performing inbound quality inspections
Responsible for preventive maintenance action items performed daily at company standards for forklift.
Responsible for cycle counts for material in the Warehouse.
Responsible to backup Material Handler I & Material Handler II positions
Responsible to backup Lead position in the Warehouse
Responsible for leading by example regarding attendance, PPE requirements, breaks, and to "Drive" compliance in all areas.
Responsible for completion of daily scheduled work within the scheduled hours
Responsible for following all the work center processes.
Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to perform daily tasks, including lifting large particleboard sheets or parts weighing more than 50 lbs. or more.
Must be able to perform written data entry tasks.
Must be able to safely drive a forklift.
Must be able to distinguish between different species of wood.
Must be able to distinguish between different laminate paper colors.
Must be able to perform basic math skills and the ability to read a measuring tape and caliper in metric dimensions.
Must have a strong sense of urgency in accomplishing hourly goals and daily duties.
Must have a basic ability for reading and writing in English.
Education and Experience
Must have a high school diploma or GED. Will take work experience in Lieu of Education.
Experience with driving forklifts is preferable.
Physical Requirements and/or Working Conditions
Factory environment, possibly including heavy lifting, and areas where eye protection, hearing protection, and respirators are required.
