A Weatherization Technician is responsible for improving the energy efficiency, durability, and comfort of residential or commercial buildings. This role involves performing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades that reduce air leaks and protect structures from weather-related damage. The technician uses various tools and materials to seal, repair, and improve building components such as windows, screens, and frames.
Key Responsibilities:
-Apply caulking and sealants around windows, doors, and other openings to prevent air -and moisture leaks.
-Repair damaged window screens and replace torn or worn screens as needed.
-Repair or replace window frames to ensure proper fit, insulation, and structural stability.
-Inspect windows and exterior openings for gaps, drafts, and damage.
-Remove old caulking or weatherproofing materials and install new materials properly.
-Ensure all work meets safety standards and quality guidelines
-Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly dispose of old materials.
-Communicate with supervisors about needed repairs
Required Skills:
-Basic carpentry and maintenance skills
-Experience with caulking, sealing, and weatherproofing materials
-Ability to repair and install window screens and frames
-Ability to use common hand and power tools
-Attention to detail and ability to identify air leaks or structural issues
-Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
-Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
-Ability to use ladders and perform hands-on repair work
