Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician
*Preference will be given to those with Electrical / HVAC experience.*
The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician will troubleshoot to quickly identify potential problems. Keep machines in their best condition and fix issues as quickly as possible.
The position is responsible for the operation of all maintenance equipment, perform repairs, installations, adjustments, as well as preventative maintenance and emergency repair. This includes company vehicles, material handling equipment, basic carpentry/building repair, and mechanically overhaul all plant equipment as needed.
Within the Maintenance Department, this position will help to ensure that the Dairy, GFIC (our ice cream stands and mini golf courses), and any other company owned properties are maintained and operational.
Objective:
- Troubleshoot to quickly identify potential problems
- Keep machines in their best condition and fix issues as quickly as possible
- Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with supervisors and peers
Tasks and Responsibilities: Plant/Ice Cream Stands:
- Perform all maintenance wiring, installation of motors, switches, lighting, testing of circuits, programmable logic controllers, VFD’s and troubleshooting of all plant electrical.
- Properly read and understand schematics and blue prints
- Work with boilers, ammonia and/or Freon
- Operate maintenance equipment, including company vehicles, material handling equipment and person lifts (to heights of 60 feet)
- Perform maintenance, repair, and installations at our Family Owned Ice Cream Stands
- Basic carpentry - building repairs – e.g., siding - rough or finish carpentry - miscellaneous installation and repairs
- Install, adjust, preventative maintenance, emergency repair, or overhaul all plant equipment as needed mechanically
- Repair conveyors, gearboxes, etc.
- All other tasks assigned by the maintenance manager
Qualifications:
Must live within 30 minutes of Skowhegan
Strong mechanical skills
Multi-skilled in any of the following areas a plus:
- familiar with electrical controls
- PLC/VFD knowledge
- welding
- plumbing
- boiler operation
Education/essential Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Trade school or college degree preferred
- Two years of experience in an electrical position preferred
- Two years of experience in a mechanical position preferred
- Boiler Operator’s License preferred
- Valid driver’s license with no significant driving violations a must
- Willing to work a flexible schedule and available for emergency calls
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs or more
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Able to bend and twist at the waist
- Able to push and pull up to 100 lbs or more
- Able to grasp objects with fingers
- Able to sit and drive to ice cream stand locations or other destinations as needed
- Able to withstand constant temperature changes (i.e. freezer like conditions)
- Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding
- Ability to crawl and work in confined spaces on occasion
Work Environment:
- This position involves constant movement and time spent on their feet
- Wearing common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves or hearing protection is required
- May need to work in freezer conditions and constant temperature changes
- The sounds and noise levels can be distracting when working on the production floor
- Will be working both indoors and outside
- May be subject to weather conditions if working outside
- Exposure to chemicals that can cause irritation may occur during clean up
- Work with machinery and moving parts occurs daily
