Position Description
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end logistics operations within the fiberglass pipe manufacturing plant. This role ensures efficient coordination between order entry, production scheduling, internal logistics, warehousing, inventory management, and shipping. The position plays a critical role in ensuring on-time delivery, accurate ERP data integrity, optimal inventory levels, and seamless material flow to support production and customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities
Order Entry & Customer Coordination
· Oversee the order entry process to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely system input.
· Coordinate with Sales and Project Management teams to validate order requirements, delivery timelines, and customer specifications.
· Monitor order status and proactively communicate updates or risks.
Production Scheduling
· Develop and manage production schedules aligned with customer demand, plant capacity, and material availability.
· Collaborate with Production and Operations teams to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
· Balance priorities between urgent orders, stock replenishment, and capacity constraints.
· Adjust schedules dynamically based on operational changes or supply chain disruptions.
Warehousing Management & Material Flow
· Oversee warehouse operations for both raw materials and finished fiberglass pipes.
· Establish and maintain effective storage systems tailored to large, bulky, and fragile materials like fiberglass pipes.
· Ensure safe handling, storage, and preservation to avoid damage or quality issues.
· Implement best practices for space utilization and warehouse efficiency.
· Optimize plant layout and workflows to minimize handling time and costs
Inventory Management:
· Maintain accurate inventory levels for raw materials (resins, fiberglass, additives, etc.).
· Implement inventory control systems to track usage, replenishment, and stock levels.
· Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely replenishment and avoid production delays.
· Conduct periodic cycle counts and audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
· Manage finished goods inventory to balance storage capacity with customer demand.
· Ensure accurate stock records and traceability of products.
· Minimize excess inventory while ensuring availability for customer orders
Shipping & Distribution
· Oversee shipping operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products
· Ensure compliance with packaging, handling, and transport requirements specific to fiberglass pipes.
· Manage shipping documentation and ensure accuracy.
Process Improvement & Cost Optimization
· Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
· Implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies).
· Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and logistics costs.
Compliance & Safety
· Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Promote a strong safety culture within logistics, warehousing, and material handling operations.
· Ensure proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
Qualifications / Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
· 5+ years’ experience in materials or inventory management within manufacturing.
· Experience with ERP/MRP systems. (SAP desirable)
· Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
· Knowledge of lean or continuous improvement principles.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of production planning and inventory control systems (ERP/MRP).
· Experience with large, bulky product handling and storage (preferred).
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
· Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
· Knowledge of logistics optimization and cost management.
· Familiarity with safety standards and compliance requirements.
