Noor Family Services (NFS) is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and highly organized Paralegal to join our Legal Services team. This position provides critical legal and administrative support to the Staff Attorney while helping survivors navigate complex family law matters, including Temporary Protective Orders (TPOs), divorce, child custody, child support, and related civil legal proceedings.
The Paralegal serves as an essential liaison between clients, attorneys, courts, and community partners, ensuring that survivors receive timely, professional, and compassionate legal assistance throughout the legal process. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to providing trauma-informed, client-centered services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Client Advocacy & Legal Support
- Assist survivors in understanding their legal rights, available remedies, and the civil legal process.
- Guide clients through the preparation and completion of legal forms and required documentation.
- Assist clients in obtaining Temporary Protective Orders (TPOs) and provide support throughout the filing process.
- Prepare family law pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery requests, correspondence, and other legal documents under the supervision of the Staff Attorney.
- Conduct legal and factual research to support case preparation.
- Assist clients in gathering evidence, supporting documentation, and witness information.
- Prepare hearing notebooks, trial binders, exhibits, and case files.
- Accompany clients to court hearings, when appropriate, providing professional support throughout the judicial process.
- Coordinate interpreter and translation services to ensure meaningful access for clients with limited English proficiency.
Case Management & Administrative Support
- Receive and coordinate referrals from law enforcement agencies, courts, shelters, partner organizations, and other community agencies.
- Maintain regular communication with internal staff and referral partners to ensure timely coordination of legal services.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential client records in accordance with agency policies, grant requirements, and legal standards.
- Enter all client contacts, services, case notes, and outcomes into CAP60 and other required reporting systems.
- Prepare case closing documentation and maintain legal forms, templates, and resource materials.
Litigation & Attorney Support
- Provide comprehensive litigation support to the Staff Attorney and volunteer attorneys.
- Schedule client meetings, hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
- Manage the attorney's calendar and monitor filing deadlines.
- Draft and respond to routine legal correspondence.
- Coordinate communication with courts, opposing counsel, and community partners.
- Assist with filing legal pleadings and maintaining case documentation.
Community Collaboration
- Collaborate with Legal Advocates, Case Managers, Outreach staff, and community partners to ensure coordinated services.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with courts, attorneys, and partner agencies.
- Assist with legal clinics, educational workshops, outreach events, and community presentations, as needed.
- Support the onboarding and supervision of legal interns and volunteers.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Paralegal, preferably in family law, domestic violence, immigration, legal aid, or nonprofit legal services.
- Knowledge of Georgia family law procedures, Temporary Protective Orders (TPOs), and civil court processes.
- Strong understanding of legal ethics, confidentiality standards, and client privacy requirements.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or other trauma.
- Experience with services for underserved groups and culturally diverse populations.
- Fluency in English is required. Bilingual proficiency in Arabic, Urdu, Spanish, or other languages is strongly preferred.
- Experience working within a nonprofit, legal aid, or social services environment.
- Experience collaborating with courts, law enforcement agencies, and community-based organizations.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of legal terminology, document preparation, and court procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and electronic document management systems.
- Experience using case management platforms such as CAP60 or comparable databases.
- Familiarity with Georgia court websites and electronic filing systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment while maintaining professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Compensation:
- The agency offers a competitive salary (range $65,000- $75,000) based on experience and expertise. This is a full-time position. Benefits include generous paid time off, mileage reimbursement, health insurance stipend, and a retirement matching contribution.

Working Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment and requires regular interaction with individuals experiencing crisis, trauma, and complex legal circumstances. The Paralegal must demonstrate compassion, professionalism, emotional maturity, and sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality and delivering high-quality client service in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting.
Occasional evening or weekend work, local travel, and attendance at court hearings, legal clinics, and community events may be required.
