Role:
A CDL Driver/Shop Support will support IPS construction projects by safely driving large, heavy loaded vehicles (CDL Class A) while also helping to support the IPS shop. Must be organized, detailed oriented, and comfortable working independently. A clean driving record and commercial driving experience is a must, preferably in the construction industry. This role will also support the shop completing duties to help maintain the Shop facility, tools and equipment which can include cleaning, loading trucks, and fulfilling tool and material orders.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate company assigned construction vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of over 26,000 lbs.
- Efficiently pick-up, transport and drop off goods/products to the intended construction project site, abiding by client delivery and pick-up procedures.
- Ensure all contents are properly secured in the vehicle/flatbed to prevent damage to product or injury to others when in transit.
- Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries with clients.
- Assist in mapping driving routes and use predetermined routes to ensure timely transport and delivery. Check weather conditions and road reports before departure.
- Communicate with dispatch as needed for delivery updates, delays or concerns/issues.
- Confirm the contents in each shipment load matches the manifest document.
- Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip and ensure the company vehicle is always kept clean (interior/exterior).
- Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.) while notifying managers of any major maintenance concerns.
- Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.
- Adhere to all company and client rules and regulations and obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions. Comply with ICC and DOT regulations.
- Fulfill tool and material orders to support jobsites
- Assist in general maintenance and upkeep of the shop warehouse, company tools and equipment.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks and utilizing a forklift where appropriate (forklift certification provided by IPS)
- Maintain a high focus on safety procedures at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent preferred
- 2+ years of proven experience in commercial truck driving, preferably related to the construction industry.
- Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) required in addition to a clean driving record with no moving violations.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
- Skilled at maneuvering, driving and parking large, heavy loaded vehicles.
- Able to operate an electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
- Proficient using GPS and other routing systems with map reading and route planning experience.
- Ability to twist, pull, turn, bend and lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
