Rehabilitation Technician
RATE: $18 - $19 Per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rehabilitation Technician performs routine activities as assigned by a therapist for the provision of resident services and rehabilitation department operations.
RESPONSIBLITIES/ ACCOUNTABLITIES:
1 Assists Occupational Therapist/Occupational Therapy Assistant with treatments including activities of daily living and feeding groups, and/or other occupational therapy programs;
2 Assists Physical Therapist/Physical Therapist Assistant with treatments including ambulation, range of motion exercises, hot packs, and/or other physical therapy programs;
3 Assists Speech/Language Pathologist with carry over of speech therapy treatment programs;
4 Performs clerical duties within the department, including maintenance of resident files and records under the direction of the therapist;
5 Assists in scheduling, transporting and preparation of residents for rehabilitation services;
6 Conducts maintenance therapy programs and/or restorative nursing programs established by therapists and under the direct supervision of therapists and/or nursing personnel; maintains documentation of such programs in specified facility locations;
7 Observes residents for any change in status and reports same to therapists; insures the safety of residents;
8 Adjusts equipment upon request and under the direction of the therapist;
9 Cleans and maintains treatment areas, according to all specific safety and infection control policies and procedures;
10 Assists in departmental communications, as delegated, which may include attendance at meetings, communicating with nursing staff, telephoning, and ordering supplies and equipment;
11 Attends and contributes to in-services and staff meetings as requested;
12 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights;
13 Performs other duties as requested.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/ VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1 High school degree or equivalent.
2 Certification as a Nursing Assistant is preferred.
3 Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.

8 Ability to demonstrate consistent professionalism with therapists, other healthcare providers, residents and families.
9 Ability to follow directions and consistently perform stated duties.
PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES:
10 Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees.
11 Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
