Mechanical Contractor of Record — License + Guidance (Part-Time, High Leverage)
We Buy Houses Anywhere · Clio, MI · Remote-first, occasional site visits · 1099
The honest version of this job
We run a manufactured home community in Clio and a real estate operation across Michigan. Every home we set means furnaces, A/C, gas lines, and ductwork — and mechanical permits on a rolling schedule. We have the crews, the equipment, and the pipeline.
This role is exactly two things: your license and your guidance.
Our crew works under your license. You guide them — by phone, FaceTime, or Zoom, from wherever you are. We do the installs. You get paid every time we pull a permit and every time we need your brain.
What you'll actually do
- Be the qualifying individual on our Michigan mechanical contractor license — our crew works under it
- Guide the people working under your license — quick calls, FaceTime walkthroughs of the install, Zoom, photos. 15 minutes, not meetings.
- Sign off on permits and attend inspections when the inspector requires a body on site
- That's the whole job.
What you will NOT do
- Daily labor or running a crew
- Office hours
- Sales, paperwork chasing, or anything you'd call "a second job"
Pay — pure activity, and our activity doesn't stopWhatAmountPer permit pulled under your license$250/permitYour time — guidance calls (phone/FaceTime/Zoom) or on-site visits & inspections$100/hr — actual time worked, paid same week
No salary, no retainer, no minimums, no fluff. If you're working, you're getting paid — a 10-minute call bills as a 10-minute call, an hour on site bills as an hour. You get paid on activity — and we're filling lots at our Clio community on a rolling schedule, every one of them needing a furnace set, gas hookup, and ductwork. The more we build, the more you make. Most "advisor" gigs are a handshake and a maybe. This one is a number on a schedule.
You're a fit if
- Michigan Mechanical Contractor license — active, clean, no open complaints — with the classifications our work needs (HVAC equipment, ductwork, and fuel gas piping at minimum)
- Real residential/manufactured home experience — furnace and A/C sets, gas line hookups, crossover ducts, LP and natural gas
- You answer your phone, or at least text back same day
- You want to get paid for your judgment, not just your labor
You're NOT a fit if
- Your license has issues or you're mid-dispute with LARA
- You need a formal meeting to answer a question a photo could answer
- You're looking for full-time W-2 work
How to apply
Text or email three things: your name, your license number and classifications, and one sentence about your gas/HVAC experience. That's it. No resume required.
We reply within 48 hours. You could be earning by the end of the month.
