Kennel Assistant
Description
The kennel position is in charge of all hospitalized patient care and overall cleanliness of the practice. This is a part-time position and has a morning and evening shift. Start time is 7:30 am until tasks are finished. Evening time starts at 3:00 pm until tasks are finished. The evening shift must stay until tasks are finished and it is at least 9:00 pm.
Duties
- Keep all patients in hospital clean and comfortable and maintain a clean and orderly hospital
- General cleaning-vacuuming, mopping, cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, recycling and washing and cleaning windows and mirrors.
- Handle and restrain animals
- Assist team members when needed
- Operate computer software
- Administer medications as directed by the doctor
- Operate medical equipment such as IV pumps, body warming units, etc.
- Perform basic veterinary skills such as nail trims, suture removals, ear cleaning, etc.
- Prepare kennels for patients (blanket, litterbox, water, IV pump..)
- Follow treatment plans for patients according to doctor orders
- Record patient notes in medical record
- Keep walkways and outdoor appearance acceptable for clients
- Shovel entry way during winter months
- Occasionally will need to use personal vehicle to purchase supplies and bring recycling to the proper facility.
Requirements:
Driver's license
Highschool diploma or equivalent
Weekend availability
Able to lift 40lbs
