The City of Delray Beach is a Non-Tobacco Workplace. Perform a broad range of difficult technical work in the service, diagnosis and repair to all systems of specialized medium, heavy-duty gas- and diesel-powered generators, to include automatic transfer switches and other associated equipment, with a heavy emphasis on diesel engines Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance program, order needed parts for repairs as well as keep track of stocked items. Work is performed under general supervision EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Troubleshoot, test, diagnose, adjust, repair and service a variety of emergency standby generators.

Repair, overhaul and maintain both electrical and mechanical equipment.

Fabricate. service and repair equipment as needed.

Perform precision adjustment and calibration using varied measuring devices.

Use hand or power tools and hoists, including a truck mounted hoist for field repair to install, remove, disassemble/assemble or adjust parts and replace units. Provide input in areas for new and replacement tools, equipment, and refurbish existing equipment as requested.

Diagnose repair and oversee maintenance of seventy-six diesel powered generators.

Order and stock required spare parts, maintain inventory.

Oversee and schedule work of other generator technicians

Ability to use a personal computer.

Perform general and major repair of other City equipment as required.

Perform preventative maintenance. Comprehensive knowledge of the construction, design, repair, and adjustment of a wide variety of specialized medium and heavy-duty equipment.

Perform other job functions as required.

Fosters positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.

Performs all functions and responsibilities according to the Palm Beach County Code of Ethics and Florida State Statutes 112.313.

- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction) with correct color vision. Must be able to wear safety glasses, goggles, safety shoes/boots, hearing protectors, welder’s helmet, gloves, and other safety equipment as needed.
