Southern Tier AIDS Program, Inc. is seeking a Prevention and Testing Navigator based in our Binghamton office. This position provides screening and testing services (HIV/HCV/STI) to individuals seeking testing, including fingerstick or venipuncture blood draws for confirmatory testing. Provides confidential linkage, navigation and appropriate referrals to additional medical and supportive services in the community, as well as tracking and documenting all related outcomes. Perform outreach to recruit individuals into testing and program services. Collaborate and promote awareness with community partners, including other health/human service providers, in order to ensure participant connectivity to services, and mutual referrals. Assist with the management and input of all programmatic data and documentation requirements. Perform all data entry and screening/testing duties in an accurate, timely, and consistent manner. The Prevention and Testing Navigator reports directly to the Program Coordinator, Special Populations.
The grants are aimed at improving HIV knowledge, condom negotiation skills, risk awareness, HIV/HCV/STI testing rates, and self-efficacy for populations we serve. By providing risk assessment, referral, and navigation services, the program helps connect men and women with resources to know their status, get treatment, and access additional community support services.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Prevention and Testing Navigator are:

Provides screening/testing (HIV/HCV/STI) and referral services as scheduled.
- Performs screening/testing services during scheduled hours

Performs intakes: screens individuals for risk and provides risk reduction counseling services, performs screening/testing services related to reported risk, provides referrals to appropriate additional medical/supportive services, as needed, offers education regarding sexual risk, condom/barrier use, HIV/HCV/STI transmission, behavioral strategies for future risk reduction, maintains cleanliness and proper functionality of testing space/equipment, work collaboratively with STAP and other programs’ staff members to ensure continuity of services, execution of appropriate referrals, and timely follow-up

Conducts inventory of all screening/testing supplies.

Responsible for ordering screening/testing supplies in order to maintain adequate stock.

Promotes program services and risk reduction education.

Salary
$18.00/hour working 35-hours per week, may vary depending upon experience.
Education

Associate’s degree in Health, Education, Social Work, Liberal Arts, or a related field plus 2 years of experience preferred. Relevant experience in a human service or community-based organization may be substituted for degree requirement
Experience

Experience with phlebotomy is preferred.

Experience in data entry and/or database management preferred.
- Experience with Windows, MS Office Suite, Google.
- Prior experience facilitating groups and delivering HIV prevention programs preferred.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Comfortable with and possessing expertise working with a vast variety of populations.
- Prior case management experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of social networking media and website design desired.

Computer literacy, written/verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills required.
- Physical demands are those associated with general office duties: sitting, standing and light lifting.
- This individual will conduct educational programs in the community and will carry educational presentation materials.
- The hours of this position are not within the normal workday or workweek.
