About the Role
GWI is seeking a skilled, hands-on Maintenance Technician / Production Technician to keep our facility running safely and efficiently. This is a hybrid role with a primary focus on maintenance — roughly 65% of your time will be spent maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment, facilities, and systems, with the remaining time supporting production operations.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance (Primary — ~65%)
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Complete general facility maintenance and construction tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, drywall, framing, and structural repairs.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and metalworking as needed for repairs and improvements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and records.
- Identify and recommend equipment upgrades, process improvements, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
- Snow removal, landscaping maintenance.
Production (Secondary — ~35%)
- Support production operations by setting up, operating, and monitoring equipment.
- Step in to maintain throughput and meet production targets during peak demand or staffing gaps.
- Communicate equipment issues and downtime to the production team promptly.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area (5S / housekeeping).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (technical/trade certification preferred).
- 2+ years of hands-on maintenance, industrial repair, or skilled-trades experience.
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting ability.
- Demonstrated maintenance and construction skills (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, fabrication, etc.).
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Solid understanding of workplace safety practices and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to shifting demands.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade certification or completed apprenticeship (electrical, HVAC, millwright, machinist, welding, etc.).
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Chemistry experience or degree.
- Familiarity with PLCs, motor controls, or automated equipment.
- Forklift or aerial lift certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working at heights for extended periods.
- Able to work in varying conditions (heat, cold, noise, dust) and around moving machinery.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
- Must be willing to respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours.
