The Tax and Consulting team serves as a partner in building lifetime relationships with clients. The Tax & Consulting Manager assists our wealth strategy specialists (tax, planning, and consulting) and wealth advisors with delivering our Ideal Futures Process to clients. This comprehensive process addresses all areas of a client’s tax planning and wealth management needs.
The Tax & Consulting Manager is responsible for oversight of tax preparation services and the ongoing training, development, coaching and supervision of the Staff Accountants, Senior Accountants, and Supervisors. This position is also responsible for providing guidance to the team to meet the tax preparation needs of internal and external clients. The Tax & Consulting Manager must embrace and represent the Savant philosophies and values. A positive attitude, approachable and mature demeanor, the ability to effectively receive and deliver communication to both internal and external clients is expected.
In this role, you can expect to focus in the following areas:
Assume supervisory responsibilities within the tax department providing guidance and direction to subordinate staff members.
Training, development and oversight of Staff Accountants, T&C, Senior Accountants, T&C, Supervisors, T&C, and Wealth Strategy Team Associates. This includes training, recruiting, development, hiring, termination, promotion, discipline, and ongoing oversight.
Remain current on industry changes to effectively train, coach and manage the consistent implementation of these changes with direct reports.
Active participation on one or more T&C committees to assist with practice management and professional development of tax staff.
Proactively communicate with clients and team members.
Review moderate to complex individual tax returns, along with fiduciary,, partnership and corporate returns
Review individual tax analyses and assist with the review of various financial planning analyses (i.e., social security analyses, stock option analyses, Roth conversion analyses, etc.)
Provide research and analysis for complex tax transactions & topics, and communicate results
Assist with implementation of tax planning and consulting opportunities
Provide tax expertise to clients and others in the firm
Provide support to Directors with business development opportunities
Maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Facilitate educational and training opportunities for team members.
Maintain team approach by assisting and filling in for others.
Perform other duties as needed.
Business Services (Consulting)
Review and analyze business financial statements for client planning strategies.
Support senior level managers and attend client meetings, as needed.
review client financial statements, tax returns, estate planning documents and all other information necessary to develop a financial plan or other various analyses
Review and deliver various tax and financial planning analyses (i.e., tax, social security , insurance, stock option, Roth conversion, and pension analyses)
Supervisory Responsibilities
Select, supervise, empower, coach, develop, and retain a team of qualified individuals through effective hiring, employee development, performance management, succession planning, and recognition.
Align team objectives and individual performance metrics directly with organizational strategic goals, ensuring clear communication and understanding of how team efforts contribute to broader company success.
Collaboratively set challenging but realistic goals aligned with departmental and organizational objectives. Work with employees on a plan to achieve their goals.
Oversee and lead staff, including hiring, assigning work, and recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.
Maintain open and effective communication, ensuring that team members are informed, engaged, and aligned with firm updates and strategic changes.
Actively engage in ongoing coaching, providing regular, constructive feedback and guidance to foster professional growth and improvement.
When managing subordinate supervisors, provide leadership, guidance, and resources needed to ensure they are effective in their management roles.
A couple things to note about our position:
This is is a full-time, salaried position based onsite at our Clinton, SC office.
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours will be required during tax season and other peak business periods to meet client and business needs.
The position typically requires the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university
Masters in taxation or other advanced degree is a plus
Active CPA license or EA license
CFP or Series 65 certification preferred
Financial planning/wealth management acumen, judgment, and experience preferred
Proven ability to lead and mentor others effectively to achieve success and foster a culture of teamwork
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, as well as tax analysis software
Familiarity with online and print tax research resources
Experience in reviewing returns
Effective writing and tax research skills
Must be organized and detail-oriented
Must possess a consistent positive attitude

We take a market-based approach to compensation. The expected base salary range for this role in Clinton, SC is $110, 000 - $150,000 annually final pay determined by experience, skills, and location. This role may also be eligible for additional incentive compensation based on responsibilities and performance.
