Superior Aire is seeking a dependable and experienced HVAC & Refrigeration Service Technician to install, diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and commercial HVAC/R systems.
Most assignments are located throughout Metro Atlanta. However, occasional travel to other parts of Georgia and neighboring states—including Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida—may be required according to project and customer needs.
Systems and Technologies
Our technicians work with:
- Split and packaged air-conditioning systems
- Heat pumps and gas furnaces
- Mini-split, multi-split, inverter, and variable-speed systems
- Rooftop units, air handlers, fan coils, and condensing units
- Walk-in and reach-in coolers and freezers
- Ice machines and light-commercial refrigeration systems
- Commercial kitchen exhaust hoods and ventilation systems
- Ductwork, dampers, diffusers, grilles, registers, and exhaust fans
- Conventional and smart thermostats
- Low-voltage controls, motors, sensors, relays, contactors, capacitors, and control boards
- Refrigerants including R-22, R-410A, R-32, and other A2L refrigerants
- Digital gauges, vacuum pumps, micron gauges, leak detectors, recovery machines, multimeters, clamp meters, manometers, and airflow instruments
- Mobile applications for work orders, photographs, estimates, timekeeping, and service reports
Experience with every system listed is preferred but not required. Training may be provided according to the technician’s experience level.
Main Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on residential and commercial systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, airflow, drainage, control, and refrigerant problems.
- Service coolers, freezers, ice machines, ventilation systems, kitchen hoods, and ductwork.
- Recover, evacuate, charge, and handle refrigerants according to EPA and safety requirements.
- Replace compressors, motors, coils, valves, thermostats, control boards, and other components.
- Measure voltage, amperage, pressure, temperature, airflow, static pressure, superheat, and subcooling.
- Read wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Complete equipment startups, testing, calibration, and commissioning.
- Explain findings and repair recommendations clearly to customers.
- Complete accurate digital service reports, photographs, and material records.
- Maintain company tools, inventory, equipment, and service vehicles.
- Follow OSHA, PPE, electrical, ladder, rooftop, and company safety procedures.
- Participate in emergency or on-call service when required.
- Represent Superior Aire professionally at every customer location.
Required Qualifications
- Professional experience in HVAC service, installation, repair, or maintenance.
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycles and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose equipment problems and complete repairs independently.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Experience using standard HVAC/R tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Willingness to travel throughout Metro Atlanta and occasionally outside the area.
- Availability for limited overnight travel.
- Ability to work on ladders, rooftops, mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, and outdoor job sites.
- Ability to safely lift and carry tools, parts, equipment, and materials.
- Professional communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for service documentation.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
- HVAC/R technical-school certification or degree
- NATE or equivalent industry certification
- OSHA safety training
- Residential, multifamily, and commercial HVAC experience
- Commercial refrigeration and kitchen-ventilation experience
- Experience with mini-split, inverter, communicating, and variable-speed systems
- Experience with R-32 and other A2L refrigerants
- Knowledge of applicable mechanical, electrical, and safety codes
- English proficiency; Portuguese or Spanish is a plus
