Job Description
As a community based practice looking to raise and expand the practice of oral healthcare in under-served communities, Kids Smiles is looking for General Dentist(s) who enjoy working with kids. The full-time General Dentist position will be be based out of our Southwest (Island Ave) Philadelphia office. The schedule is Monday through Thursday 8:45am to 5/5:15pm with two Fridays per month.
- Renders restorative and preventive dental treatment to patients;
- Examines teeth and gums for all infections and diseases, prepares charts of mouth and teeth; X-rays and diagnoses diseases and lesions; prepares cavities and fills them with appropriate materials; extracts teeth and roots; treats infections and diseases of the mouth and teeth; administers local and general anesthesia; and prepares, fits adjusts and finishes appliances, crowns.
- Performs simple diagnostic tests on site including radiology and laboratory tests as necessary;
- Prescribes medications;
- Participates in quality assurance programs and follows quality assurance measures;
- Records organized legible entries in patient records and in referrals or correspondence;
- Attends meetings, in-service and any other event as assigned by Clinical Director;
- Develops a comprehensive treatment plan with public health emphasis and attention to overall health status;
- Maintains patient confidentiality;
- Participates in continuing education activities such as seminars, workshops, etc. necessary to maintain certification;
- Adheres to and supports Center policies, programs and activities;
- Provides data, reports, and other information as required for dental accountability;
- Demonstrates tact, courtesy and a positive approach to communication and interaction with other employees, patients, parents/caregivers, health care providers and others.
- Oversight of day-to-day office operations.
Required Experiences and Skills of the General Dentist
- Graduated from an accredited School of Dental Medicine.
- Possession of a current active Dental license from Pennsylvania; possesses or is actively applying for nitrous oxide license.
- 1+ years’ experience as a Dentist.
- Ability to work as part of a team, and to assume leadership role when necessary.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent decision making, interpersonal, and teaching skills.
- Although based out of one Philadelphia office, the ability to go to other Philadelphia office locations, when needed, is required.
