Job Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures material availability, optimizes inventory levels, develops supplier relationships, and drives performance in cost, quality, and delivery across the supply base. The Buyer partners closely with Operations, Logistics, Engineering, and Supplier Quality to ensure uninterrupted production and continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
Essential Functions & Tasks:
- Purchase materials, components, and services to support production and customer requirements.
- Analyze demand requirements and maintain appropriate inventory levels to ensure material availability.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders, requests for quotes, and supplier communications.
- Develop and maintain positive supplier relationships and resolve delivery, pricing, and service issues.
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Expedite materials and proactively address shortages or supply disruptions.
- Partner with Logistics, Operations, Engineering, and Supplier Quality to support production schedules and business objectives.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and ERP/MRP system data.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and inventory optimization.
- Support new product introductions and engineering changes as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and other projects that support operational performance.
- Monitor and improve key procurement KPIs, including: Material Availability, Supplier On-Time Delivery, Purchase Price Variance (PPV), Inventory Performance, Supplier Quality Performance
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating pricing, delivery, and commercial terms.
- Knowledge of purchasing principles, inventory management, and material planning concepts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and build effective supplier relationships.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, execution, and follow-through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Experience sourcing fabricated, machined, or engineered components.
- Experience within electro-mechanical, industrial equipment, or precision manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with supplier quality processes, including corrective actions and supplier performance management.
- Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI) and engineering change processes.
- APICS, CPSM, CPM, or other professional supply chain/procurement certifications.
- Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or continuous improvement training or experience.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
