Online English Teacher – Remote, Part-Time

About the Role
Vermont International Academy is looking for experienced and enthusiastic English teachers to join our international teaching team.
This is a remote, part-time position teaching live small-group classes to students aged 3–15 in China. Classes usually have between three and six students.
Teachers follow a structured curriculum based on internationally recognised frameworks, including CEFR, with teaching materials drawn from established programmes such as Oxford Discover and National Geographic Learning.
Responsibilities
- Teach live, interactive online English classes to groups of three to six students
- Support students in developing their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
- Deliver lessons using the academy’s curriculum and teaching materials
- Adapt lessons and activities to suit students of different ages and ability levels
- Provide clear and constructive feedback on students’ progress
- Maintain a positive, engaging and supportive classroom environment
- Attend teacher training sessions and communicate regularly with the academic team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, TESOL or a related subject
- At least three years of teaching experience
- Experience teaching children or young learners
- Previous classroom teaching experience, either in person or online
- Strong spoken and written English
- A reliable internet connection and a suitable home teaching environment
- Confidence using online teaching platforms such as Zoom, ClassIn or Google Classroom
- A patient, responsible and student-focused teaching approach
Preferred Qualifications
- TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification
- Master’s degree in Education, English, TESOL or a related field
- Experience working with CEFR or international English curricula
- Experience preparing students for exams such as Cambridge English qualifications or TOEFL Junior
- Experience teaching students aged 3–15
Working Hours
This is a part-time remote role. Most classes take place during peak teaching hours in China, typically between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM Beijing Time.
Applicants should therefore have regular availability during the corresponding morning or daytime hours in their local time zone. Additional classes may also be available outside these peak hours, particularly at weekends.
Teachers are expected to provide consistent weekly availability, with a minimum of approximately 40 teaching hours per month.
