Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Production Scheduler and become a vital driver of manufacturing excellence! In this energetic role, you will orchestrate the seamless flow of production activities, ensuring that manufacturing processes operate efficiently and meet demand forecasts. The Production Scheduler plans the work schedule of production departments, provides plans that efficiently use resources, and through production scheduling generates lowest cost results with timely delivery to customers.
This position reports to the Purchasing/Planning Manager and will interact on a regular basis with management and production staff. This position works cooperatively with other organization staff.
Essential Responsibilities
· Review plans or schedules of workload in the rough-cut capacity stage and respond in advance to periods where workload is significantly greater than capacity available.
· Responsible for the application of activities to align workloads so the factory is successful in achieving production activities that meet workload and scheduling efforts.
· In partnership with leadership, provide input and recommendations on utilization of human capital usage, overtime needs and achievement of sales and customer needs.
· Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between work centers, capacity and priority planning and re-planning.
· Coordinate material handling to provide smooth and timely flow to the factory ensuring no disruptions, delays or cost overruns occur.
· Participate in the maintenance and utilization of the ERP system parameters for capacity, resources, work centers, shop calendar.
· Responsible for communication and feedback on shop schedules and its impact on achieving business commitments with supervisors and other leaders.
· Act as a resource of creative problem solving to the factory team and business team to facilitate schedule achievement.
- Current working knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality controls, cost practices.
- Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
- Attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum of 2 years of scheduling and production planning experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working in manufacturing within a related or similar field
- Current working knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality controls, cost practices.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information, respond to inquiries, and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate reports, correspondence, regulations, and other business-related documents.
- Proficient in using personal computers, Microsoft Office applications, and standard business software.
- Mathematical proficiency using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and various units of measure.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, active listening, decision-making, research, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, manage competing deadlines, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the judgment to seek guidance when appropriate.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new skills, processes, and feedback.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, adhere to professional ethics, and work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing and auto insurance.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Education
- Associate of Arts degree or Technical Degree preferred.
Technical Skills
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems; Infor SyteLine experience preferred.
- Proven working experience with Microsoft Office.
- Proven lean manufacturing principles.
Working Conditions
- Office environment: Long periods of sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-25 pounds occasionally.
- Able to drive a car and travel to worksites.
Compensation and Benefits
- This is a full-time position with an expected annual salary of $78, 000.00 to $88,000.00; depending on qualifications and experience.
