The ideal candidate should have:
- Hands-on onsite engineering experience supporting an operating industrial facility (not primarily an EPC or consulting background).
- Experience leading small to mid-sized electrical capital projects from scope development through execution and commissioning.
- Strong experience with large medium- and high-voltage switchgear, including installation, upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
- Extensive experience supporting industrial power distribution systems, preferably ranging from 480V through 138kV.
- Experience working with large synchronous motors and/or generators.
- Experience supporting plant operations, maintenance, and reliability, not just engineering design.
- Strong knowledge of Management of Change (MOC), electrical safety (NFPA 70E), arc flash, load flow, short circuit studies, and protective relaying.
To improve the review process, please ensure the resume clearly identifies:
- Types of industrial facilities supported
- Voltage levels worked with
- Switchgear and power distribution experience
- Capital projects personally led or managed
- Large motor/generator experience
- Commissioning and startup responsibilities
- Operations and maintenance support
- Electrical studies performed (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, etc., if applicable)
Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily commercial construction, EPC design, consulting, or utility work without significant onsite operating plant experience are less likely to align with the hiring manager's expectations.
