Schedule: Term I and IITERMTERM SCHEDULED TIMESTerm I September - DecemberMondays4:00 PM 10:30 PMTerm II December AprilMon./Tues./Weds.4:00 PM 10:30 PMPRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: To work cooperatively with and under the direction of the Director of Practical Nursing in the development of and implementation of the Practical Nurse curriculum.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Participate in the development of policies and procedures for the program2.Participate in curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes3.Use a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate learning in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains4.Implement a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs5.Create an environment that facilitates student learning and the achievement of desired cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes6.Engage in self-reflection and continued learning to improve teaching practices that facilitate learning7.Serve as a role model of professional nursing8.Maintain and update Scope and Sequence and competency lists as instructional materials are added or deleted in alignment with the Test Plan for the National Council Licensure Examination for Licensed Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN)9.Remain current with changes in industry, technology and education10.Attend conferences, seminars, workshops related to field(s) of instruction11.Write new curriculum or modify existing curriculum as program changes in alignment with the Test Plan for the NCLEX-PN12.Ensure all grades, deficiencies, and clinical evaluations are completed as directed and turned in on time13.Maintain up-to-date Curriculum Binder(s) containing all instructional materials, ie. worksheets, articles, tests, pertaining to all courses to which he/she is assigned to teach14.Make effective use of preparation time15.Follow individual Department Policy and Procedures16.Complete professional improvement as outlined in the Teachers Contract17.Assist in the preparation of purchase orders, quotes and bids18.The faculty will participate in the governance as a component of their role responsibilities.19.Perform additional assigned tasks as directed by immediate supervisor, Assistant Superintendent/Principal or Superintendent-Director Organization Relationships: 1.Responsible directly to Director of Practical Nursing.2.Must work cooperatively with all teachers (especially those within his/her department), Administrators, Professional and Support Staff3.Supervise the work of students where applicableQualifications (Preparations, Experience, Competencies, Personal Attributes): 1.Occupational Educational Certification where applicable2.Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts3.Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university4.Minimum experience of 2 years of clinical experience5.Evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction required6.Ability to develop new instructional materials7.Ability to revise and modify existing curriculum materials8.Excellent management and organizational skills9.Excellent communication skills10.Excellent interpersonal relations skills11.Some experience operating Computer Hardware and knowledge of software
