Position Summary:
The Commercial Service Technician II, a journeyman-level position, is responsible for accomplishing, assisting, directing, and training in the areas of installation, maintenance, and repair of Carrier heating, ventilation, cooling equipment, and building automation systems for commercial mechanical HVAC contracting customers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform start-ups, maintenance, and troubleshooting for a variety of commercial air conditioning, multi-zone heating/ cooling systems, and building automation systems.
- Travel to job sites, collaborate with dispatch to maintain schedules and ensure timely communication of delays to customers.
- Complete assigned projects with a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Submit completed service work orders and expense reports on time.
- Develop and foster customer relationships.
- Maintain personal accessibility through office and mobile phones and return calls in a timely fashion.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to department standards.
- Provide technical and product training to HVAC contractors and building owners.
- Assemble UL508A industrial control panels.
- Assist with inventory control of commercial control products.
- Perform duties under severe temperature conditions. Ability to climb, stoop, balance, crouch, crawl, or/and kneel continually.
- Effectively communicate and train level Commercial Service Technician 1 staff.
- Able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Critical Knowledge and Skills:
- Read architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
- Grasp mechanical systems and basic electrical knowledge.
- Understand construction documentation, procedures, and construction processes.
- Communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
- Excellent customer service skills with a desire to exceed customer expectations.
- Exhibit good judgment, planning, multitasking, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Certified as an HVAC technician through a technical school or receive HVAC training and experience from an apprenticeship program.
- 5+ years in the HVAC industry, preferably related to the installation, commissioning, and servicing of commercial equipment and controls.
