Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable, safety-minded Tow Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for safely operating tow trucks and related equipment, responding to service calls, transporting vehicles and equipment, and providing professional assistance to customers, law enforcement, repair facilities, and business partners. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, mechanically aware, customer-focused, and committed to safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
Essential Responsibilities
· Safely operate assigned tow trucks, rollback carriers, wheel-lift units, and related towing/recovery equipment in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
· Respond to towing, recovery, roadside assistance, accident, breakdown, impound, transport, and service calls as assigned by dispatch.
· Perform safe vehicle loading, securement, transport, unloading, and release procedures using proper straps, chains, winches, dollies, and safety equipment.
· Inspect vehicles before towing and document condition, visible damage, personal property concerns, mileage, locations, and service details accurately.
· Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, law enforcement, repair shops, insurance representatives, and other business partners.
· Perform basic roadside services when assigned, which may include jump starts, tire changes, lockouts, fuel delivery, and winch-outs, within training and safety guidelines.
· Maintain truck cleanliness, complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
· Follow DOT, traffic, roadside safety, PPE, incident scene, load securement, and company procedures at all times.
· Complete required paperwork, digital job notes, photos, invoices, receipts, logs, and Towbook or company system entries accurately and timely.
· Represent the company with professionalism, patience, and respect during stressful customer situations.
Required Qualifications
· Valid driver's license and ability to meet company insurance and motor vehicle record requirements.
· Ability to safely operate assigned company vehicles and equipment after training and qualification.
· Ability to pass required pre-employment checks, which may include background screening, motor vehicle record review, drug testing, and any DOT requirements applicable to the position.
· Strong attention to safety, detail, time management, and communication.
· Ability to read maps, GPS routes, service details, vehicle information, and written procedures.
· Ability to work independently, make sound decisions in the field, and follow dispatch instructions.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, traffic, roadside, and emergency conditions.
Preferred Experience
· Prior towing, recovery, rollback, transport, roadside assistance, repossession, automotive, trucking, or heavy equipment experience.
· CDL, medical card, or prior DOT-regulated driving experience, when applicable to assigned equipment.
· Experience with winching, vehicle securement, accident scene support, impounds, heavy-duty towing, or equipment transport.
· Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with vehicle makes, models, drivetrain considerations, and safe loading procedures.
· Experience using dispatch software, Towbook, GPS, digital photos, and mobile work-order systems.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
· Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, kneel, lift, pull, push, and secure equipment as needed for towing operations.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, or more with assistance or mechanical support, with or without reasonable accommodation.
· Must be able to work near traffic, in shop and outdoor environments, and in weather conditions that may include heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and low-light conditions.
· Must use required personal protective equipment and follow safe work practices around moving vehicles, winch lines, traffic, and equipment.

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
