Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Staff Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Dispense medications accurately and efficiently, including compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations using aseptic techniques and IV infusion procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapies, considering physiology, anatomy, medical history, and current health status.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical management plans, pain management strategies, and medication administration protocols.
- Manage pharmacy inventory effectively, including stock control, medication ordering, and ensuring proper storage conditions for sensitive pharmaceuticals.
- Utilize pharmacy software and electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient interactions, medication dispensing, and clinical notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide immunizations and patient education on medication use, side effects, and safety precautions.
- Demonstrate expertise in acute care settings such as critical care units or LTC (Long-Term Care) facilities, applying specialized knowledge in pediatrics and immunology when necessary.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of pharmacy operations within hospital or acute care environments, including LTC pharmacy practices.
- Critical care experience combined with a strong foundation in medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
- Proven ability to perform patient service activities such as patient assessment, medication reconciliation, and counseling.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and EMR/EHR platforms to ensure accurate documentation and communication.
- Skilled in compounding medications safely using aseptic techniques while adhering to strict safety standards.
- Experience with inventory management processes to optimize stock levels and reduce waste.
- Ability to perform IV insertion and infusion procedures confidently while maintaining sterile technique standards.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy at all times.
- Strong background in hospital or emergency medicine settings with expertise in pain management and medical management strategies.
- Prior pharmacy technician experience is advantageous for supporting daily operations efficiently.
