The Patient Access Associate performs a variety of administrative tasks to arrange for the admission of patients to the surgery center.
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Patient Access Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate understands that kindness, professionalism, and efficiency are essential in a healthcare setting. This role is the first point of contact for patients and requires excellent customer service skills, strong organizational ability, and patient healthcare administration experience.
HOURS: Monday through Friday 8.5 hour shift
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer phone calls, greet and speak with patients and family members in a friendly compassionate manner
- Monitor the main entrance and serve as the first point of contact for all visitors at the center.
- Prepare patient charts and necessary documentation for next day cases
- Check-in patients including collecting and scanning of documents, verify and input patient data
- Print estimate forms and obtain patient signatures. Collect payment as needed and set up payment plans
- Give appropriate instructions to patients and family members at the time of admission regarding expectations of the day
- Appropriately record information in patient's medical record including the download of information to EMR
- Responsible for vendor credentialing and access of vendors to the center
- Maintain waiting area and front desk area in a neat and orderly manner
- Handle daily mail
- Maintain effective working relationships with peers and management and function as an effective team member
- Maintain confidentiality of the center and patient information at all times to ensure compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned including but not limited to Medical records, Accounts payable invoice processing
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a medical office or ambulatory surgery center is required
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience with medical records management
- Strong computer skills and comfort with EMR systems-Experience with HST a PLUS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is essential
- Professional appearance and demeanor- Professional business attire is required-scrubs are not permitted
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Salary: Dependent on experience
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
