Our programs focus on domestic and sexual violence advocacy, economic empowerment, mental health, legal and immigration support, and assistance with housing and public benefits.
Position Summary
The Prevention Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating community-based prevention and education initiatives that promote healthy relationships, gender equity, and violence prevention within community. This position focuses on increasing community awareness, engaging youth and adults, building partnerships, and promoting early intervention strategies to prevent domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, stalking, and related forms of abuse.
The Prevention Specialist works collaboratively with schools, healthcare providers, faith-based institutions, and other stakeholders to strengthen community capacity and support Saheli's mission of empowering survivors and preventing violence through education and advocacy.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrevention Education
- Develop and facilitate culturally responsive educational workshops and presentations on:
- Healthy relationships
- Domestic violence prevention
- Teen dating violence prevention
- Consent and boundaries
- Gender equity
- Sexual violence prevention
Community Outreach and Engagement
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools, colleges, healthcare providers, community organizations, Corporates, and faith-based institutions.
- Represent Saheli at community events, resource fairs, conferences, and outreach activities.
- Recruit and engage community members, youth, and volunteers in prevention initiatives.
- Coordinate awareness events during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, and other observances.
- Create engaging prevention campaigns using print, digital, and social media platforms.
Program Development
- Assist in designing evidence-informed prevention programs and initiatives.
- Develop culturally appropriate educational resources and outreach materials.
- Support implementation of grant-funded prevention activities which adults and teens can relate and understand.
- Stay current on best practices in violence prevention and public health.
Data Collection and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, training, attendance, and community engagement.
- Collect participant feedback and outcome data for program evaluation.
- Prepare reports required by funders and organizational leadership.
- Assist with grant reporting and program evaluation efforts.
Collaboration
- Work closely with advocacy, legal, counseling, and economic empowerment teams to coordinate prevention initiatives.
- Participate in community coalitions and multidisciplinary teams.
- Foster collaborative relationships with local agencies and stakeholders.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain educational materials and outreach supplies.
- Assist with scheduling training and community presentations.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and organizational events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Human Services, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field required.
- Knowledge of Canva, adobe ,Instagram ,Tik-tok and other media and Multimedia platforms to run or develop prevention program using such platforms
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities (Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Gujarati, Arabic, or other South Asian languages) preferred.
- Experience with grant-funded prevention programs.
- Familiarity with Massachusetts domestic violence resources and community partners.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in violence prevention, community education, public health, or nonprofit programming preferred
- Experience facilitating workshops and public presentations preferred.
- Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, and trauma-informed practices.
- Strong understanding of primary prevention and community engagement strategies.
- Excellent public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Requirement:
- Occasional evening and weekend work required for community events and training.
- Local travel throughout Massachusetts for outreach, presentations, and meetings.
- Ability to travel to community locations.
- Ability to lift and carry outreach materials up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during training and community events.
- This is part time position

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
