Job Summary:
Responsible for coordination and supervision of the company safety program and ensuring compliance with OSHA and all federal, state, and local regulations and company safety policies.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Implement and maintain safety training programs for new and existing staff to prevent dangerous conditions, accidents, and injuries. Maintain safety manual with up-to-date policies and government regulations and distribute updated copies to all staff and facilities.

Evaluate hazardous conditions in the workplace and perform periodic safety inspections at company facilities.

Provide orientation for all new staff on Crane and Fork truck operations. Administer written and operational skills tests and maintain operator license database for currency.

Handle accident and injury reports and investigations; responsible for all documentation and disciplinary action, in conjunction with human resources.

Administer worker compensation claims and ensure compliance with OSHA reporting.

Research and keep up to date on accident statistics and make recommendations to the Director of Manufacturing and the President to correct safety concerns.

Educate and train employees on safety protocols.

Conduct emergency drills at all facilities.
- Audit and maintain SDS records to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.

Coordinate random drug and alcohol screening programs, in conjunction with human resources.

Lead quarterly Safety Committee meetings and implement approved initiatives from that committee.
- Coordinate hearing conservation program and schedule all baseline and annual hearing exams for qualified staff.
- Coordinate CPR training and recertification for qualified staff.

Provide counsel to staff for safety compliance within their facilities.

Process requisitions for safety equipment and maintain stock levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) and first aid.

Responsible for transporting employees to urgent care in the event of an injury.

Serve as the contact person for relevant government regulatory agencies.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:

High school diploma required; 2–4-year degree preferred

Experience coordinating a company safety program and governmental safety policy strongly preferred

Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED (provided by employer)

MIOHSA Level 1 certification (provided by employer)

General computer experience required

Valid Michigan driver license and ability to be covered on company auto insurance (based on driving record) Required.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

Ability to perform safety investigations of company facilities

Occasional physical activity such as bending, reaching, and twisting

Automobile travel required.
