Evaluate proposed academic technologies, instructional products, and faculty-development initiatives based on educational value, usability, accessibility, security, cost, scalability, and alignment with institutional and UNC System priorities. When appropriate, collaborate with Information Technology, Disability Services, Legal Affairs, Purchasing, Institutional Effectiveness, and other university offices before making recommendations.
Determine whether CITI activities comply with applicable university policies and external requirements, including digital accessibility standards, FERPA, copyright and intellectual property requirements, procurement and contracting procedures, grant conditions, state travel and budget regulations, and NC-SARA expectations. Review program plans, instructional materials, public communications, grant documentation, and vendor arrangements within the position’s assigned responsibilities to identify compliance concerns and coordinate corrective action.
Resolve day-to-day and unprecedented issues involving faculty-development programs, instructional technologies, online course delivery, event implementation, grants, vendors, staffing, and competing institutional priorities. Gather relevant facts, consult applicable policies, assess potential effects on faculty and students, and engage appropriate university or external experts when specialized guidance is required.
Contribute to CITI’s short- and long-range strategic planning by analyzing institutional needs, emerging trends, faculty-development priorities, academic technology requirements, and available resources. Develop resolution strategies, anticipate operational and policy implications, and provide CITI leadership and Academic Affairs with evidence-based recommendations.
Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, department chairs, deans, and university leadership by answering program questions, interpreting CITI procedures, researching complex issues, preparing analyses, and recommending solutions related to teaching, learning, academic technology, and faculty development.
