Job Summary
The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration and coordination of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, payroll support, benefits administration, credential tracking, training coordination, and employee support. This position serves as the primary operational resource for employees and works closely with the HR Manager to ensure compliance, efficiency, and a positive employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity with the potential for long-term employment based on performance and organizational needs.
Duties
- Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communications.
- Facilitate pre-employment processes, including background checks, employment verification, and credential verification.
- Manage new hire onboarding, orientation, personnel file creation, and required employment documentation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, personnel files, and HR databases.
- Process employee status changes, employment verifications, and other personnel transactions.
- Coordinate office assignments, employee access, badges, equipment, and related administrative support.
- Support payroll processing by maintaining timekeeping records, attendance data, leave balances, and payroll documentation.
- Process PTO and leave requests in accordance with company policies.
- Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and employee support during open enrollment periods.
- Monitor employee licenses, certifications, credential renewals, and continuing education requirements.
- Maintain training records and coordinate required compliance and professional development activities.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable employment regulations.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and serve as a resource for routine HR inquiries.
- Coordinate offboarding activities, including separation documentation, exit interviews, and recovery of company property.
- Assist with workforce reporting, HR communications, and departmental projects as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and organizational information.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational employment requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the Human Resources department and organizational objectives.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits Administration, or Administrative experience required.
- Experience with employee onboarding, recruitment, and personnel records management preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or nonprofit organizations strongly preferred.
Pay: $23.00 per hour
