Dog Daycare Attendant
Schedule: Varied Job Status: Full or Part Time Reports to: Manager
Position Description:
The Daycare Attendant is responsible for ensuring a safe, structured, and positive experience for dogs enrolled in Urban Dog Bar Daycare. This role focuses on active supervision, thoughtful group management, and guiding dogs through a daily rotation that includes small group play, integrated full-park play, and rest time. Daycare Attendants work closely with managers and fellow team members to support dog well-being, maintain safety standards, and provide clear communication to pet parents.
Position Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
1. Ensure the health and safety of our two- and four-legged guests
- Monitor all off-leash areas, closely observing dog behavior and intervening when necessary to prevent conflicts or injuries
- Guide dogs through the daycare rotation, including small group play, integrated full-park play (when appropriate), and rest or decompression time
- Make informed decisions about group placement, play compatibility, and when dogs need breaks based on behavior, energy level, and health considerations
- Enforce all daycare policies consistently and professionally
- Monitor and address animal needs, including hydration, feeding in designated zones, and signs of stress, illness, or fatigue
- Document and promptly report health, behavioral, or safety concerns to a manager
- Be open to training and mentoring with the goal of creating a fear-free approach
2. Represent our brand while interacting with customers and providing exceptional service
- Provide appropriate updates or reports to pet parents
- Engage in friendly interactions with guests and canines
- Assist with customer check-in and check-out, take payments, and help schedule daycare using company software
3. Maintain a clean and organized environment
- Clean up pet waste immediately and regularly disinfect rest areas & play yards
- Properly use, restock, and maintain cleaning supplies and play materials
Working Conditions:
- The physical environment may require Daycare Attendants to work both inside and outside in hot/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
- May be exposed to excessive noise
Position Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age
- 1-2 years of pet care experience in preferred (daycare, animal clinic, shelter, lodging, etc)
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Flexible schedule and the ability to work during peak holiday periods, including nights and weekends
- Passion for animals and our mission to create an exceptional experience for pets and their owners
- Team-oriented with a friendly and positive attitude
- Ability to follow direction of supervisors and managers, and willingness to learn and ask for help when needed, especially regarding animal health, safety, and well being
- The role of a Daycare Attendant is an active position and will require, but is not limited to the following
- Physically able to handle, in a controlled manner, dogs of any size and breed
- Ability to push, pull, bend, sit, stand, and lift/carry up to 40 lbs to handle strenuous activity as needed
