Duties
- Greet clients warmly, answer phone calls, and schedule appointments efficiently using veterinary software.
- Collect payments, process medical billing, and handle medical collections with accuracy and professionalism.
- Assist with animal handling and restraint during check-in, check-out, or minor procedures, ensuring safety for pets and staff.
- Support veterinary team with administrative tasks such as maintaining patient records, updating client information, and managing laboratory documentation.
- Coordinate kennel care and animal husbandry activities, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animals’ condition.
- Facilitate communication between clients and veterinary staff regarding treatment plans, surgery schedules, or medication instructions.
- Ensure compliance with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA guidelines related to medication handling and record keeping.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is highly preferred; familiarity with veterinary terminology is essential.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of veterinary software systems such as Cornerstone and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with animal restraint techniques, dog handling, equine experience, or kennel duties is a plus.
- Understanding of laboratory procedures, aseptic techniques, and medical-surgical protocols related to companion animal medicine.
- Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint methods; knowledge of animal anatomy is advantageous.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures, animal catheterization, and pet care best practices is desirable.
