Position Overview
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Air/In-Bond Entry Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience with the air import process and Canadian in-bond movements. You’ll work directly with airlines to ensure the timely and efficient clearance of of perishable goods and monitor Canadian cargo as it transits through the United States via truck or rail.
This position is ideal for someone who values precision, efficiency, and learning in a fast-paced environment. Because of the dynamic nature of these shipments, occasional monitoring outside of standard business hours may be required. The role offers a flexible schedule, including rotating weekend coverage with days off during the week and work-from-home opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Document Review: Audit and verify shipping documentation ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Data Management: Enter and transmit customs data accurately in our internal systems to expedite electronic releases and facilitate smooth cargo movement.
- Client Engagement: Communicate with clients, government agencies, third parties via email and phone, addressing shipment information requests and proactively managing client expectations.
- Customs Entries: Prepare and submit US customs air entries and Canadian in-bonds, resolving discrepancies promptly for a seamless import process.
- Cargo Monitoring: Track cargo from start to finish, working closely with airlines, truckers, government agencies and third parties coordinating across time zones and boarders to get cargo, entered, examined, and cleared to meet delivery timelines.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in customs brokerage or customs/cargo logistics is a plus but not require.
- Attention to Detail: Proven ability to manage, audit, and review complex documentation for accuracy.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with in-house systems and software, and proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective client and team interactions.
- Organization: Able to manage multiple tasks and work efficiently in time-sensitive situations, especially with perishable goods.
Job Details
- Job Type: Full-time
- Work Location: Philadelphia, PA 19106; weekend work is remote. The ability to travel on a regular basis to Old City Philadelphia is a requirement.
- Expected Hours: 35 hours, Monday – Friday, with a rotating requirement of one weekend per month. Weekend work is offset with two weekdays off and weekend word is from home, not required to come into the office those days.
