Ummah™ Center School (UCS) is a non-profit full-time Islamic school. We opened our doors in the fall of 2023 in Columbia Station, Ohio—a small town nestled in the southwest suburbs of Cleveland. UCS is approved as a Chartered Nonpublic School by the State of Ohio and currently serves 131 students from PreK-3 through Grade 8 from a diverse and dynamic Muslim community.

Position Summary
Ummah Center School is seeking an exceptional Elementary Classroom Teacher who is passionate about student achievement, committed to academic excellence, and dedicated to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate believes all students can achieve at high levels, possesses strong instructional and classroom management skills, and is committed to continuous growth as an educator.
As the classroom teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, building meaningful relationships with students and families, utilizing data to drive instruction, and supporting the academic, social, emotional, and character development of every child.
The classroom teacher serves as a role model for students and contributes to cultivating a positive Islamic school culture. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, strong character, and a commitment to supporting the mission and values of an Islamic educational environment.
Core Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Achievement
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with Ohio Learning Standards and school curriculum.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional practices to promote student growth and achievement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Utilize educational technology to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Integrate Islamic values and character development throughout the school day.
- Prepare students for school-based and state assessments.
Literacy & Mathematics Development
- Develop strong foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
- Utilize assessment data to identify learning gaps and provide targeted support.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Implement reading and mathematics intervention strategies as needed.
- Create opportunities for students to apply learning in meaningful and authentic ways.
Classroom Culture & Student Development
- Establish and maintain a structured, safe, and positive classroom environment.
- Implement proactive classroom management strategies that promote student responsibility and respect.
- Support students' academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.
- Encourage leadership, independence, and a love of learning.
- Model professionalism, integrity, and strong moral character.
Assessment & Communication
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding academic performance, behavior, and classroom expectations.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and family engagement activities.
- Collaborate with families to support student success.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administration to support student learning.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
- Support school-wide programs, events, and extracurricular activities.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative and mission-driven school culture.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth and learning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid Ohio Teaching License or ability to obtain Ohio licensure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Ohio Third Grade Reading Guarantee.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of literacy and mathematics instruction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to utilize student data to drive instructional decision-making.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and administration.
- Experience working in a faith-based, private, charter, and culturally responsive educational setting.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of an Islamic school.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education or a related field.
- Reading Endorsement or demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction.
- Certification in Elementary Grades K–5.
- Experience implementing intervention strategies and differentiated instruction.
